CLEMENS BRIELS
Clemens Briels was born in 1946 in The Netherlands and started his artistic career around 1990. He has been working as a graphic designer, art director and illustrator and finally as a creative director. However, his destiny was still calling out to him: Clemens always wanted to be an artist. At the age of forty-six, Clemens made the decision to become an artist.
Since then, he is supported by a growing staff skilled in various disciplines to free him from administrative duties. With more time to devote to his creative endeavours, he has successfully conquered the art world and is marketing his work internationally.
Clemens Briels calls his art Antipodism: images from unknown sources. With his feeling for contrast he transforms daily themes into bold and different but pleasantly accessible images. Colourful, with obvious Latin American influences and a lack of respect for the academic straightjacket of perspective.
Briels is a sculptor, painter, creates glass sculptures and designs furniture. But his signature is and will always be the cheerful and optimistic outlook on life.
His successful exhibitions, one closely followed by the next, have been held in Europe, North America, the Middle East and a museum exhibition in Shanghai, August 2008. Multinationals request his collaboration when they want to present themselves by means of art. His commissioning parties in the Netherlands and abroad have included Ford Automotive Group, Philips, ABN Amro, Fortis, Pfeizer, Sarah Lee, DSM Chemicals, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and others.
Briels' work won him the award of Official Artist of the Olympic Winter Games held in Salt Lake City in 2002. He also created the official poster for the games.
